CodeChops was founded in 2011 when Mark Davis was lamenting the lack of modern working amenities and community spaces in Eugene. He borrowed few minutes on the microphone at a SmartUp PubTalk event and called out to the attendees to collaborate on a new space. CodeChops was the result of 5 strangers coming together to launch something new. We were the 2nd tenant after Pivot Architecture in the (new at the time) Broadway Commerce Center in the heart of downtown. Over the past decade we’ve enjoyed participating in the downtown renewal by helping launch dozens of small business by giving them a place to incubate. We’ve hosted countless meetups groups and provided a focal point for tech community building, fostering the integration of tech + art, and civic + tech effort. We survived the global pandemic with the help of our steadfast members and look forward to the next chapter for downtown.
